C.T.S. can assist you in identifying and/or meeting the education needs in your facility or region.
Goal:
The program will assist Nurses and Home Coordinators to understand and incorporate the principles of rehabilitation in the ongoing care of clients, patients, or residents; to support established individual rehabilitative programs; and to identify those whose impairment and disabilities need the attention of therapists or other rehabilitative professionals.
Objectives:
At the completion of the one day program, participants will be able to:
- Identify clients/patients/residents who require an occupational therapy or physiotherapy assessment to contribute to the development of their care plan.
- Identify a client's/patient's/resident's assets and assist in developing these to their potential in areas of function and social interaction.
- Demonstrate basic therapeutic skills which meet the needs of individual clients/patients/residents in a long term care setting
Instruct and supervise staff responsible for following through on the individual client/patient/resident programs.

- Use of Splints and Orthotics
- Discussion of Passive R.O.M. vs. Active R.O.M.
- Team Approach for H.C.A.'s
- Management of Cognitively Impaired Residents
- Footwear for Residents - Basic Foot Care
- Any Combination of Existing or Optional Topics
The C.T.S. Education Team consists of experienced rehabilitation professionals including an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and a Physical Medicine Specialist.
CTS Education Programs are designed to supplement the in-services provided by the therapist on-site.
CTS fees will depend on the site, number of participants and the number of presenters required.
Formats Can Be Personalized:
- You may choose the one day program as outlined
- For a one day program tailored to meet your specific needs you may choose up to seven topics, depending on the needs identified and the length of each presentation
- For one specific topic, you may choose 2, 3 or 4 hour sessions repeated 2 or 3 times per day for one or two days to ensure that staff from all shifts as well as casual staff receive the same education.
